Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She was a reporter for the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington the following year, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News a year later. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Then, in 1992 she became the chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter in NBC News. Mitchell was on the panel of the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debate in the 1988 debate between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the ex-chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the administrations of Ronald Reagan. She reported on a number of noteworthy events like arms control, tax reforms to the budget and also the Iran Contra scandal. She also went to various summits while in the company of the president Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
